Baby showers seem to be getting more and more popular now and when my sister in law was due to have one I wanted to take a gift along that was a little different. So I made some DIY Baby Changing Kits.
The theory behind it is when the new Mum is in a rush to get out of the house, they can grab one of these handy bags and it would have a few things that they might need for a new baby for a quick change.
What you’ll need:
- White cotton drawstring bags – I got the small (20x24cm) bags from The Clever Baggers
- Baby vests / bodysuits
- Dispoable changing mats
- Buttons for decoration
I decided to make 7 bags (one for every day of the week) but you can make as many as you want. First you’ll need to sew on the buttons. I chose a random mixture of reds and blues to match the new baby room. A tip for this part is to sew the buttons onto the bottom half of the bags as this will look better once the drawstring is pulled.
Once the bags have been decorated, the final step is pretty simple! Fold up the disposable changing mat and put it inside the bag along with a folded baby grow/vest and the nappy. And there you have it, 7 Baby Changing Kits and an alternative gift for a baby shower!
