DIY wine cork herb markers

On September 5, 2017 by Lau

This is such a simple DIY that literally takes minutes to do but I think wine cork markers in a herb planter look pretty good.
You’ll need:

  • Bamboo skewers
  • Wine corks (these would look just as good if you collect used wine bottle corks but I bought a pack of new ones from a craft shop)
  • Permanent marker
  • Black paint (this one is optional – I painted mine black to blend in but you can leave them natural, or even paint them a bright colour).

  1. Cut down the bamboo skewers to size (cutting off the blunt end).
  2. Paint them your desired colour using an outdoor paint (I used left over fence paint) and leave to dry.
  3. While they’re drying, time to write on your corks – make sure you use a permanent marker so it doesn’t smudge or wash away with the rain!
  4. Once the skewers are dry, using the sharp end twist them into the bottom of the cork.
  5. Get planting!
