On our way down to Leeds last weekend we stopped off at Rosie’s Diner, which is about a 5 to 10 minute drive from the city centre. If you love 50’s diners and your typical American food you will love this place!

I think because I’ve been obsessed with Grease since I was 10, I have a bit of an obsession with diners and icecream parlours – I just love them. From the deco and music, to the uniforms (which I actually said I want to wear one for work) and of course the amazing food. Oh how I wish I could’ve been growing up in the 50’s – I’d definitely want to be a Pink Lady. Rosie’s Diner comes complete with a monster truck on its doorstep, a yellow bus inside which seemed like a massive hit with the kids in there and the diner is kitted out with huge American diner booths and movie theatre signage. It ticked all the boxes.

So onto the food. The menu is huge, and when I say huge I really do mean it. They have hotdogs galore with various toppings (the Yorkshire Terrier comes topped with pulled pork!), ribs with Jack Daniels Sauce and if like me you love nothing more than good old chicken then definitely try the Southern Fried Chicken with a side of Sweet Potato Fries.

Our eyes are always bigger than our bellies so we also decided to get a side of Mac n Jack (so good!) and just when I thought I was too full for anything else, my eyes wandered to the milkshake section of the menu and suddenly a butterscotch milkshake was sat in front of me in the cutest milk bottle! This is seriously good stuff – think butterscotch Angel Delight in liquid form.

Even though it was the school holidays, the service was brilliant. We waited 20 minutes for a table but by the time I stopped looking at the incredible menu our table was ready and the friendly staff showed us to our booth and took our order. In no time our table was covered with plates of yummy food.

So if you’re visiting Leeds anytime soon or you’re lucky enough to live close by then definitely make a stop at Rosie’s Diner, you won’t be disappointed. Here’s hoping we make another trip down there soon!
