A few weeks ago we had a weekend away with my parents to Cheshire Oaks and the Lakes Distillery. We set off early on the Saturday morning and there’s something about being in the car that early that makes a road trip even better, watching the sun rise as we go.
If you’ve never been to Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet before you should definitely check it out. My favourite shops were Links of London, Lulu Guinness, and Ralph Lauren – everything is at a fraction of the normal price.
We stopped at Giraffe for a bite to eat before heading to our hotel for the night. Those drinks (fresh cloudy lemonade and mint if you’re wondering) were so good! At our hotel, we come across some giant chairs, we’re not entirely sure why they were there, but it was a perfect photo opportunity for my Mam and I!
On the Sunday, instead of driving straight home we stopped off at the Lakes Distillery next to Bassenthwaite Lake. It’s housed in a renovated 1850’s Victorian barn and the drive up to it was unbelievably pretty this time of year with the snowy mountains. We decided to take part in the whisky tour which was really interesting seeing how it’s made (not to mention the whole place smelled of whisky!) and at the end you could taste their whisky, vodka and gin.
After the tour we went for Sunday lunch in their Bistro and it was seriously one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had. I also highly recommend their warm chocolate pudding!
