Touch of Silver

For all the blondes out there, I’ve found a product that will stop your colour going brassy and yellow. For years I’ve been having highlights in my hair, but sometimes in the past they’ve turned quite yellow rather than the creamy blonde that they started out like.

I’m sure most of you will have heard of Silver shampoo (which is actually purple) to take out any brassy tones and to help those with grey or blonde hair. A popular one is Clynol’s Reflex Silver Shampoo which I’ve used a lot and I will admit it’s great and does exactly what it says. The only thing I don’t like is the price tag! (The RRP is £8.63 for 300ml and that’s just for the shampoo.)

But I have a great dupe that’s purse friendly and easy to pick up in your local boots! Touch of Silver Daily Maintenance Shampoo and Daily Nourish Conditioner are designed for grey, white or platinum hair and contain Sunflower Seed Extract and UV absorber to safeguard colour. It also claims to boost shine and enhance silver tones.

After using this for about a month now, I can say it definitely helps to keep my blonde highlights from going brassy. My hair is quite a dark blonde with some creamy blonde highlights yet this shampoo still works brilliantly so I can only imagine that it would be perfect for those with really blonde hair.

The best thing is, both the shampoo and conditioner are priced at only £2.09 each (for 200ml). The only difference I would say is that it’s a bit lighter in colour than Clynol’s silver shampoo but in my opinion it makes no difference to the hair at all.

I use this almost every time I wash my hair (usually every other day) but I would suggest that those with dry hair may want to use it once to twice a week. There’s also a treatment which may good for those with dry hair instead of a daily shampoo but for my hair (normal/oily) it’s safe for daily use!
